The screaming went on for a good minute or two, and then the two were left staring at each other. Eduardo could still detect the fear in his little 'cabeza de calcetin' as the boy visibly trembled.
Oh...right. Eduardo understood why. Sadly, he averted his gaze.
"...I scare you, right?"
He didn't wait for the boy's response. "Is okay..." Slowly, he began to turn away. "I just worried... I heard you got chased and hurt by the Fusion monsters, and you lost your friends... They scary, those Fusion meanies... I wish they'd go away and leave us alone."
He sniffled. "Senorita Frankie told me to take care of you, since everyone else so busy. But if I make you scared, then that's okay..."
If he had been turned around, he would've seen the guilt in the boy's frown, who knew he had hurt the imaginary friend's feelings. Instead, Eduardo felt a hand gently brush across his thistle-colored fur from behind, and the boy spoke to him for the first time.
"Wait... please stay."
Surprised, not to mention confused, Eduardo turned back to meet the boy's uneasy smile. But now he looked less afraid and more apologetic.
"I'm... sorry for screaming," he indeed did apologize, letting out a small chuckle. "You just took me by surprise, that's all." The smile grew slightly. "I appreciate your concern, greatly, and if you haven't anything better to do, I'd... like your company."
Eduardo was stunned. "S...Si? Really?"
"Of course."
"And I... I don't scare you?"
"Not in the slightest."
Eduardo grinned. He KNEW 'Cabeza de calcetin' would be a nice kid.
Encouraged to, and briefly forgetting the boy's condition, he twirled around and sweeped the lad into his arms, lifting him clear off the bed.
"WAGH??"
Of course, it's pretty obvious WHY he grabbed Double D, but we'll leave that for Part 3.
More playing around. Less concerned about minor details like fabric and hand anatomy. XD Except in awesome close-ups. Fwah.
I have to make a note of making Double D's grins bigger. Even in Fusion Fall, his smile almost goes ear to ear. ^^
Last pose referenced from Elfquest. ^^ I was rather happy with it.
