A gift for the dear :iconpumpkinpiesoup: And because I was inspired to draw from our little rp. ^^

LONG EXCERPT AHEAD

The aforementioned Sockhead wasn't quite sure of his situation. All he knew was that he was in a dark room, too dark to see, and the floor underneath him was so very, very cold. His jacket had torn, providing little warmth, but he pulled at it tightly as he laid on the floor in a fetal position, quietly sniffling to himself.

Truth be told, he didn't feel... all there. It was difficult to grasp. But after a while, he had realized that HE was the only dim light source in the room, and that he could see the cracks in the concrete below through his own pale hand. That discovery had launched him into a hefty cry, one he was just recovering from.

When he was first pulled under, he couldn't have known what was happening to him at the time. Only that his body felt so very strange...cramped up, crowded with another spirit... Wrong. Everything about his body felt so very wrong.

He had seen his friends emerge down the hall from him, he wanted to greet them, wanted to run towards them, hug them, beg for them to leave this horrible place... but when his lips curled up in a terrible smirk without him telling them to, his hopes had been dashed in an instant. He watched his own fingers claw, his own limbs distort, a dreadful, inhumane shriek coming from his own throat...whatever had invade his body, it had been looking for a host for some time... and it was hungry. He felt its massive pangs of hunger in his own stomach. And for a moment, his friends had looked so tasty...

But no! He couldn't eat his friends! He wouldn't let this horrid creature get away with it! With a force he was unaware of, he fought back, giving Ed and Eddy just enough time to get away. Thank the heavens above. He had locked eyes with Ed, giving him a sorrowful glance, before the monster took over again.

Enraged by his escaped meal, the monster made sure Double D would not interfere again. He felt a horrible pain, one that nearly tore him in two, and he woke up in this room, a ghostly chain latched onto his own ghostly ankle. It clinkered slightly as he shifted, curling inwards tightly.

All he knew at this point was that the monster was using his body, twisting and changing it beyond recognition to satisfy its hunger. Were his friends alright? Would they ever escape together? Or would they become responsible for awakening and releasing a horrible, soul-devouring monster onto the world?

Heavily dishearted, he sobbed again. Was he trapped here...forever?

Somewhere near to him in the darkness, a small light twinkled lazily. It came up close to Double Dee's face, so close that he crossed his eyes looking at it for a second before it rolled backwards a few inches. In a small, far away voice it said "'ello... friend?

Double D gasped smally. He had yet to have any visitors...could this little one help him? Embarressed, he picked himself up off the ground, sitting up to face the small light, hands held at his chest pensively.

"H...hello," he ventured, rubbing his nose. "Wh...who are you?"

"Who? Who are you? Friend?" it twittered, blinking a bit and rolling around. "From upstairs, from outside?".

"Y-yes! I am!" Double D sat up hopefully. He didn't notice how etheral his own voice sounded; all his focus was on the ball of light. "That monster, he's trapped me here, and I...I don't know what I'm to do."

"Trapped? oh..." It's little light dimmed slowly for a moment, as if depressed or thoughtful. "Friends, upstairs. Friends, from outside also?" it slowly plodded around in a circle as if walking in midair. "Can show you, if it pleases you."

"E-Ed and Eddy? They're alright??" Double D's spirits were already lifting, kneeling down to the ball and nodding frantically. "Y-yes, please! Oh, please show me!".

With that, the little light zipped away, leaving a small trail of dying light particles behind, like melting snow flakes. Double Dee gulped, unsure if he had been overly eager and frightened the thing or if it was about to come back with information.

Luckily, the later was true, as after a few agonizing moments of dead silence, the light came back, lingering in the air and shaking. There was an object imbedded in the light, which it grasped onto with some effort. "Take!" It pleaded.

"Oh..." Gently, he took the tiny orb into hand. He held in between his index finger and thumb, as it was about the size of a marble. "Erm...what do I do with it?"

"Think of friends," it peeped eagerly. "See happy faces, and scrying crytsal will show you!"

Double Dee held onto the tiny crystal ball carefully, afraid of what the spirit said to be the truth, but at the same time hopeful enough that he couldn't let the chance slip away. He closed his eyes and thought of his friends... their adventures together... all of the weird things that Ed has ever eaten and all of the crazy schemes Eddy had ever tried to pull off. It wasn't long before the marble grew hot in his hands. Slowly fluttering his eyes open, he peered into the tiny thing and saw them - his buddies, his comrades, his pals, running up some stairs all wet.

In spite of himself, Double Dee smiled warmly as he watched Ed shake them off, and put his hand up to his forehead as he watched Eddy's rude behavior toward the furniture. As he watched them enter into a room and play music, he even laughed a little, and he noticed a slight warmth on his cheeks and in his chest. It was followed by them standing there, watching a rat, like the rat was talking to them. Then they panicked and ran out of the room... What could possibly be going on?

The little spirit light bounced in the air, glowing white and a nostalgic orange and then white again. "You like?" it asked in earnest.

"I...I do," Double D replied, smiling ear to ear, eyes glued to the orb. Eddy continued to protest, Ed waggling tiny little keys in his face as a reminder. "...what are those keys for?"

"They open the door," the spirit piped up. "They free you."

Double D sat up in alarm at this, looking towards the spirit in panic. "B-but that'll release the monster too! They can't honestly think they're going to face the...!"

"Hey!" He could've sworn the ball of light was pouting in disapproval. "They do all for you. They good friends. They win, and then all us, inside and outside, are free to go."

At this revelation, Double D's heart melted. He looked upon his dear friends one more time before the tiny orb went solid again, like a pearl. But he was far, FAR from disheartened.

'They're... they're coming for me. My friends are coming to rescue me!'

Tears came to his eyes once again, warm tears that cascaded down his face and glittered in happiness. Being ghostly tears, they disappeared before they hit the ground. He looked upon the balled spirit again, smiling gratefully. Gently, he took it into his pale hands, bringing it up close and nuzzling it against his cheek.

"Thank you... so much, little one..." he choked out.

Soupy is awesome. I love the horror-based things that happens when he's around. XD
I was re-reading it (since we're a little stuck with how to end it XD), and I kept visualing this scene in particular... and this came into being. ^^
As far as drawing goes, in the original style, no less, I think I'm beginning to understand the ameba that is Double D's head. XD Never a consistant shape!
I'm particularly happy with the smile on the bottom. :)
And as for coloring, well, THAT was all experimental. I dunno what to say, just, there it is. XD
Enjoy. ^^

Coming back after soo long to comment again, my previous response from long ago wasn't good enough.

I'd sure like to know what's going on. I clicked on the link and got some kind of prompt that made me nervous so I exited out of this. Is the story on Fanfiction.net by any chance?

After soo long of wondering, I've kinda decided that this could be a werewolf plot. Only because I like werewolves.
